Flat belt conveyor systems — slider bed, roller bed, and troughed — forming the backbone of production floors, packaging lines, warehouses, and assembly operations. The workhorse that links every stage of your plant into one continuous, uninterrupted material flow. Fabricated in Ghaziabad. PAN India installation since 2007.
The Workhorse of Every Production Floor
Neo Conveyors is a specialist horizontal belt conveyor manufacturer in India since 2007. While inclined conveyors move goods between floor levels and telescopic conveyors reach into trucks, the horizontal belt conveyor does the quiet, essential work in between — linking every stage of your production line into one continuous, uninterrupted flow. A flat belt conveyor moves your product from Point A to Point B: consistently, quietly, and without interruption. From raw material intake to finished goods dispatch, a Neo Conveyors horizontal belt conveyor is working at every station — moving, feeding, accumulating, and presenting products to operators, machines, and packaging equipment with precision. We manufacture three variants: slider bed, roller on bed, and troughed — each matched to a specific load, product type, and application environment.

How a Horizontal Belt Conveyor Works
Four components work together to deliver continuous, reliable flat material transfer — each engineered to your product weight, belt width, and required line speed.
Drive Pulley & Geared Motor
A geared motor (or drum motor) drives the head pulley at one end of the conveyor. Motor power is sized to belt width, conveyor length, and product load. VFD allows variable speed from the control panel without stopping the line.
Continuous Belt Loop
A PVC, PU, or rubber belt forms a continuous loop between the drive pulley and the tail (return) pulley. Products placed at the feed end travel to the discharge end on the upper carrying surface. Belt type is matched to your product and environment.
Slider Bed or Roller Support
The carrying run of the belt is supported either by a flat steel slider plate (slider bed — for light loads) or by spaced rollers (roller bed — for heavier loads and longer runs). Roller bed reduces motor load and belt wear for loads above 30–50 kg/m.
Self-Tracking & Take-Up
A take-up unit maintains correct belt tension to prevent slippage at the drive pulley. Self-tracking crown pulleys keep the belt running centred without manual adjustment — eliminating one of the most common belt conveyor maintenance issues.
3 Variants — Choose the Right Horizontal Belt Conveyor
Each variant is engineered for a specific load profile and application. Choosing correctly prevents motor overload, belt wear, and premature frame fatigue in your production environment.
Slider Bed Belt Conveyor
A smooth flat steel plate supports the belt across its full width — the simplest, most economical horizontal conveyor for light-to-medium products. Ideal for cartons, pouches, bottles, and small packaged goods with flat, smooth bases that do not generate excessive friction on the carrying surface.
Roller on Bed Belt Conveyor
Spaced rollers under the belt replace the flat plate — dramatically reducing friction for heavier products and longer conveyor runs. Required when load-per-metre exceeds 50 kg, or when conveyor length exceeds 10–15 metres, to prevent motor overload and belt overheating on a slider bed.
Troughed Belt Conveyor
Three-roll troughing idlers create a cupped belt profile that contains and transports free-flowing bulk materials — grain, sand, coal, fertilizer, and minerals — that cannot be carried on a flat belt. High-capacity bulk transport at plant level without the vertical lift of a bucket elevator.

Manual Material Handling vs Horizontal Belt Conveyor
Operations managers across packaging, warehousing, and production who have switched from manual material flow to a belt conveyor system identify the same consistent improvements — throughput, consistency, and operator ergonomics.
| ❌ Manual Material Handling | ✅ With Horizontal Belt Conveyor |
|---|---|
| Workers carry, push, or wheel products between stations | Belt delivers each product to the next station automatically — zero manual transfer |
| Inconsistent timing between production stages creates queuing and idle time | Controlled VFD belt speed synchronises product arrival with upstream and downstream machines |
| Product damage from manual handling — drops, bumps, and rough transfers | Smooth controlled belt movement — product damage during transfer reduced to near zero |
| Worker fatigue from repetitive carrying compounds through the shift | Operators work at fixed ergonomic stations — no carrying, walking, or repositioning |
| Output per hour varies as workers pace slows through the shift | Belt speed is constant — same throughput at hour 1 and hour 8 |
| Adding throughput requires adding people — proportional cost scaling | Increase VFD belt speed — higher throughput with zero additional headcount |
| Product queuing blocks upstream machines — bottlenecks cascade backward | Accumulation sections prevent upstream stoppage from halting entire production |
Horizontal Belt Conveyor — Real Installations by Neo Conveyors
Three representative projects across packaging, warehousing, and production — showing the operational improvements that a correctly specified horizontal belt conveyor delivers from commissioning.
Slider Bed Conveyor — Carton Transfer Line
A consumer goods company running 3 packaging lines needed to transfer sealed cartons from the end of each carton sealer to a central labelling and palletising area 18 metres away. Manual cart movement between machines was creating a 12–15 minute backlog during peak production.
Neo Conveyors installed 3 slider-bed belt conveyors — 600 mm belt width, 18 m length each, VFD speed matched to carton sealer output — merging into a central accumulation conveyor feeding the labeller.
Roller on Bed Conveyor — Receiving to Storage
A large FMCG distribution centre receiving 800–1,200 cartons per hour from multiple inbound vehicles needed to move goods from the receiving dock to the storage zone 60 metres away. Manual pallet and cart movement could not keep pace with inbound receiving during morning peak.
Two parallel roller-bed belt conveyors — 800 mm width, 60 m length each — installed with VFD speed adjustable from 0.3 to 0.8 m/s for different product types. Roller-bed selected for the 60 m length and 80–120 kg/m load.
Anti-Static Belt Conveyor — PCB Assembly Transfer
An electronics manufacturer needed to transfer PCB assemblies between SMT machines, manual assembly stations, and test stations across a 40-metre production floor. Existing manual handling was causing ESD damage and component displacement — resulting in a 6–8% board rework rate.
Neo Conveyors designed an ESD-safe slider-bed conveyor — 400 mm anti-static belt, SS304 frame, grounded throughout — with dedicated slow-speed zones (0.08 m/s) at each station and normal transfer speed (0.4 m/s) between stations.
Horizontal Belt Conveyor vs Inclined Belt Conveyor vs Roller Conveyor
The three most common belt and roller conveyor types for unit load handling — compared to help you specify the right system for each zone of your plant without over-engineering or under-specifying.
| Factor | ✅ Horizontal Belt Conveyor | Inclined Belt Conveyor | Roller Conveyor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operating plane | Flat — same floor level only | Inclined — between floor levels | Flat — same floor level only |
| Products without flat base (bags, loose items) | Yes — continuous belt surface | Yes — with cleated belt | Not suitable — gaps between rollers |
| Heavy pallet loads | Limited — belt wears under heavy point loads | Not suitable | Excellent — rollers support high point loads |
| Product accumulation / queuing | Limited — belt motor overloads if stopped under load | Not suitable | Excellent — gravity roller naturally accumulates |
| Food / pharma hygiene | Excellent — PU belt, SS frame, washdown design | Good — PU belt and SS available | Good — SS rollers and frames available |
| Capital cost | Low to moderate — simplest drive system | Moderate — inclined frame and cleated belt | Low (gravity) to moderate (powered) |
| Best application | Packaging, carton flow, assembly transfer, food | Floor-to-floor product elevation | Pallet handling, accumulation, rigid-base products |
For floor-to-floor elevation: Inclined Belt Conveyor → | For pallet and heavy rigid loads: Roller Conveyors →
