Overview

Industrial Inclined Belt Conveyor Systems

Neo Conveyors is a leading inclined belt conveyor manufacturer in India, engineering custom incline conveyor systems since 2007. An inclined belt conveyor transports goods, bags, cartons or bulk materials continuously between two floor levels — eliminating manual lifting, removing ramps, and delivering controlled material flow at angles from 15° to 45°. We manufacture four variants — flat inclined, cleated, sidewall and Z-type — each matched to a specific product, angle and industry. All systems are fabricated at our Ghaziabad plant and installed PAN India by our own engineers.

How It Works

How an Inclined Belt Conveyor Works

The operating principle is straightforward — but correct belt type, cleat profile and inclination engineering separate a reliable system from a costly problem.

  1. Drive Pulley & Motor

A geared motor drives the head (top) pulley. Motor power is calculated from conveyor length, belt width, load weight and inclination. VFD allows variable speed for automated lines.

  2. Inclined Belt Surface

A continuous belt loop runs from the tail pulley (bottom) to the drive pulley (top). Products placed at the lower end travel up on the belt surface. Flat belts suit gentle angles; cleated belts are required above 20° to prevent rollback.

  3. Anti-Rollback Cleats

At inclinations above 20°, transverse rubber cleats moulded on the belt grip products and prevent sliding. Cleat height (25–75 mm), pitch and profile are selected to match your product's base shape and weight.

  4. Take-Up & Tensioning

A gravity or screw take-up at the tail maintains belt tension to prevent slippage at the drive pulley on steep inclines — critical for reliable high-angle operation.

Engineering rule: for every 5° increase in inclination, effective conveyor capacity reduces approximately 5–10% due to belt loading limits. Our engineers account for this when calculating belt width and motor size for your height and throughput.

4 Types of Inclined Belt Conveyors We Manufacture

Each type is designed for a specific angle range and product. Choosing correctly prevents belt slippage, product damage and costly redesigns.

Up to 20°

Flat Inclined Belt Conveyor

Standard flat belt on an inclined frame — the most economical solution for gentle inclines up to 20°. Ideal for cartons, packaged goods and rigid-base products that do not slide at low angles. Used in warehouses, packaging lines and dispatch areas for mezzanine transfer.

20°–45° · Most common

Cleated Inclined Belt Conveyor

Transverse rubber cleats grip products at steep angles — preventing rollback of bags, granules, boxes and agricultural produce. Cleat height and pitch engineered to your product. Most specified inclined conveyor for warehouse loading docks, grain handling and FMCG operations.

Up to 45° · Bulk material

Sidewall Belt Conveyor

Corrugated sidewalls and transverse cleats create enclosed pockets that contain bulk material at angles up to 45°. Handles fine powder, sand, gravel, fertilizer granules and bulk grain without spillage.

Multi-level · Food / Pharma

Z-Type Inclined Conveyor

Horizontal infeed → inclined section → horizontal discharge in a single Z-shaped unit. Allows pickup and delivery at the same working height on different floors without transfer points. SS304/SS316 food-grade construction available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Inclined Belt Conveyor — Buyer FAQs

What is an inclined belt conveyor?

An inclined belt conveyor is a belt-driven system designed to transport goods, bags, cartons, or bulk material upward or downward between two floor levels at angles from 15° to 45°. It replaces manual lifting and ramps, delivering continuous controlled material flow. Belt type — flat, cleated, or sidewall — is selected based on the inclination angle and material.

What angle can an inclined belt conveyor work at?

Flat belt conveyors operate at 15°–20°. Cleated belt conveyors handle 20°–45°. Sidewall belt conveyors can handle up to 45°. Above 45°, a bucket elevator or vertical screw conveyor is more appropriate. Neo Conveyors engineers the correct belt type for your specific floor-to-floor height and available floor length.

What is a cleated belt conveyor and when do I need one?

A cleated belt conveyor has transverse rubber fins (cleats) moulded onto the belt surface at regular intervals. Cleats prevent products from sliding backward at incline angles above 20°. You need a cleated belt when transporting bags, granules, loose items, or any product that would slip on a flat belt at your required inclination angle.

What is the difference between an inclined belt conveyor and a bucket elevator?

Inclined belt conveyors are the correct choice for unit loads — bags, cartons, packaged goods — at angles up to 45°. They offer easy maintenance access and are cost-effective for short-to-medium vertical lifts. Bucket elevators are better for free-flowing bulk materials (grain, cement, fertilizer) at near-vertical (60°–90°) elevation and high TPH. For packaged goods and mixed products, an inclined belt conveyor is always the correct specification.

What is the price of an inclined belt conveyor in India?

Price depends on belt width (300–1200 mm), conveyor length, inclination angle, belt type (flat/cleated/sidewall/food-grade), drive motor size, and structure material (MS/SS). Flat inclined conveyors are most economical; Z-type SS316 food-grade conveyors cost more. Contact Neo Conveyors at +91-9654112235 for a detailed, no-obligation quotation.

Do you offer food-grade inclined belt conveyors?

Yes. Neo Conveyors manufactures food-grade inclined belt conveyors with SS304 or SS316 frames, PU food-grade belts, sealed bearings, and hygienic end covers. Z-type food-grade conveyors with horizontal infeed and discharge are available for multi-floor food processing and pharmaceutical applications.

What is the delivery lead time?

Standard delivery is 3 to 6 weeks from order confirmation, depending on customisation, belt type, and structure material. Timeline is committed in writing before order placement. Expedited delivery available for urgent requirements.
