Industrial Roller Conveyor Systems — Horizontal & Inclined Material Handling

Neo Conveyors is a leading roller conveyor manufacturer in India since 2007, engineering custom systems for warehousing, logistics, FMCG, packaging, automotive, and assembly line applications. A roller conveyor moves products horizontally or at a slight incline using a series of cylindrical rollers — gravity-fed for zero-power operation, or motor-driven for controlled-speed production lines.

How a Roller Conveyor Works

The principle is simple — but roller diameter, spacing, frame width, and drive type must be precisely matched to your product weight, size, and throughput requirement.

1
Product placed on rollers

Product is placed on the roller surface at the infeed point. Rollers support the load across the product's base contact area — correct roller spacing ensures no product sag or tipping.

2
Gravity or motor drive

On gravity conveyors, a slight incline (typically 2–5°) moves the product by its own weight. On powered conveyors, a motor drives the rollers via belt or chain — enabling horizontal movement at a set speed.

3
Product travels the line

Products travel along the roller bed to workstations, inspection points, accumulation zones, or discharge chutes. Curves, diverters, and merges integrate into the same roller system.

4
Discharge or transfer

At the end of the line, products discharge to the next process, a packing station, or a stacking area. Roller conveyors integrate with belt conveyors, lifts, and automated systems.

Engineering note: Roller spacing = maximum product base dimension × 0.4 (minimum 3 rollers under any product at all times). Share your product size and weight for a free roller selection.

4 Types of Roller Conveyors We Manufacture

Each variant is engineered for a different application. Our engineers recommend the correct type based on your product, layout, and throughput requirement.

Who Uses Roller Conveyors

Roller conveyors are the most widely deployed surface conveyor in India — used wherever cartons, boxes, pallets, trays, or components need to move horizontally with minimal energy and floor disturbance.

Warehousing & Logistics
Gravity roller lines for carton dispatch, order picking, and goods receiving. Reduce manual handling and labour across inbound and outbound docks.

FMCG & Packaging
Powered roller conveyors carry cartons and packs along filling, sealing, labelling, and palletising lines at controlled speeds with VFD adjustment.

E-commerce & Distribution
High-speed powered roller sorters carry parcels and packets through scan, sort, and despatch zones in fulfilment centres across India.

Automotive
Free and powered roller conveyors move components, sub-assemblies, and finished parts along assembly stations in OEM and tier-1 automotive plants.

Manufacturing & Assembly
Free roller benches and powered lines handle in-process work between machining, welding, painting, and inspection stations.

Food & Pharma
SS304/SS316 gravity and powered roller conveyors for GMP-compliant food, beverage, and pharmaceutical production environments. Easy-clean designs.

Roller Conveyor — Real Installation Results

Three representative projects across different industries, products, and conveyor requirements.

FMCG Plant — Noida
Powered Roller — Carton Packing Line

FMCG client needed 35 m powered roller conveyor carrying filled cartons (8–15 kg each) through sealing, labelling, and palletising stations at 20 cartons/min. Flat-belt-driven powered roller conveyor with VFD installed — three independent speed zones.

Throughput increased by 40%

Roller Conveyor — Industrial Buyer FAQs
A roller conveyor is a material handling system that uses a series of cylindrical rollers mounted in a frame to move products horizontally or at a slight incline. Rollers can be driven by gravity (gravity roller conveyor), by a motor (powered roller conveyor), or free-spinning for manual push (free roller conveyor). The product rests on the rollers and moves along the line with minimal friction and no belts or chains touching the product surface.
Gravity roller conveyors use a slight incline (typically 2–5°) so products move by their own weight — no motor required, zero running cost, ideal for loading docks and storage dispatch areas. Powered roller conveyors use a motor to drive the rollers via flat belt or chain, enabling horizontal movement at controlled, adjustable speeds — ideal for production lines, sorting systems, and assembly lines where gravity cannot be used.
Roller conveyors handle any product with a flat, rigid base — cartons and boxes, pallets, plastic crates, trays, totes, drums, metal components, sub-assemblies, auto parts, and glass containers with flat base plates. Products must have a minimum of 3 rollers in contact at all times. Bags, loose material, or small items with irregular bases are better suited to belt conveyors.
A flexible roller conveyor has an accordion-style frame that can extend, contract, and bend in curves — making it ideal for loading and unloading trucks, temporary conveyor runs, and layouts where a fixed straight conveyor is impractical. It can be repositioned and redeployed easily. No motor or incline required — products are manually pushed.
Neo Conveyors manufactures roller conveyors up to 500 kg/m distributed load. Individual roller capacity ranges from 25 kg to 500 kg per roller depending on roller diameter (25 mm to 114 mm) and wall thickness. Share your product weight and dimensions for a free roller selection calculation.
Yes. Neo Conveyors manufactures gravity and powered roller conveyors in SS304 and SS316 for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications. These include hygienic roller end designs, cleanout gaps in the frame, polished surfaces, and GMP-compliant documentation on request.
Price depends on conveyor type (gravity/powered/free/flexible), roller diameter and material (MS/SS), frame width, length, and motor specification for powered types. Gravity roller conveyors are the most economical; powered SS food-grade conveyors with VFD cost more. Contact Neo Conveyors at +91-9654112235 for a no-obligation quotation.
Yes — PAN India installation and commissioning by Neo Conveyors' own engineers. We serve Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram, Ahmedabad, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ludhiana, and all major industrial cities. Delivery lead time is typically 2–4 weeks from order confirmation depending on length and specification.
